President Nana Akufo of Ghana begs PMB to open border

President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana has pleaded with President Muhammadu Buhari to accelerate the process of reopening the closed borders because of its negative effect on the economy of Ghana.

Nana made this plea in London at a bilateral discussion they had on the sidelines of the ongoing 2020 UK-Africa Investment Summit.

President Buhari in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Chief Femi Adesina, stressed that the closure of the borders was to stop the spread of hard drugs, arms and ammunition.

However, President Buhari expressed regret over the negative effect the border closure was having on the county's neighbors and added that the border would not be opened until the final report of a committee set up on the matter was submitted and considered.
