Nollywood Actress who was allegedly beaten by husband about three week ago has revealed that she has been physically abused countless number of times but still in the marriage because of her children.
Mercy said in an exclusive interview with Broadway TV that last beating was brutal and actually thought she was going to die.
Asked her about the beating... She said her husband beats her often but she couldn't walk away because she wanted a home for herself and children.
He beats me often. I stayed because I loved him and because every time he beats me, he begs and gets family and friends to beg me. He promised regularly to change but he never did. When my husband gets angry, he gets physical, not only to me but to anyone. He had ones assaulted my house help who reported him to the Police years ago.
I Stayed Because of My Children and Lots of People That Look Up to Me. I was a role model of some sort and I really wanted to keep it together. I just wanted a home."
The Actress asked why she left since she wanted a home,
It’s not like I wanted to walk away but I just feel like we need help. I spoke to my husband’s brother about it. I told him I was going to pack out for some time while my husband seeks therapy. I just wanted to feel safe, that is why I moved my things out. This last beating was brutal. I actually thought I was going to die. I’m Still Coughing blood"
Mercy also said she has been a fool for sticking to her husband despite all the countless abuse.
I agree that I am a fool. I believed that a wise woman builds her home. That’s why I stayed that long"
The actress accused her husband of sleeping around with girls close to her, even her PA. She said the last quarrel they had was as a result of her husband sleeping with a lady she claimed to be very close to her.
Mercy said she had informed her husband on the day of the brutal beating that she was attending the funeral of her colleague but her husband objected. The actress said her husband called to pick him up while she was still at her designer's place but she couldn't.
Mercy claimed that Her refusal got him very fury that he brutalized her. According to the actress, her husband said he was going to destroy her face such that no make-up would fix it and destroy her career.
The Actress took her husband to court and she is crying out for justice. The below picture shows her medical report after she was brutally beaten.
