Female Banker Who locked up Her Housemaid And Traveled For Xmas has Been Arrested

Nkechinyere Nwajagu, a Banker from one of the Nigerian Banks last year locked up her housemaid in a poor ventilated room with no food and traveled for Xmas.

According to reports, Neighbors alerted the police when they discovered the girl locked up in the house all by herself and immediately a Team led by the Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, stormed the area and rescued the 11 year old housemaid.


The Banker was said to have turned her self in at the Makinde Police Station, Oshodi on Friday after the act rekindled the discourse on the increase of child abuse in the country.

She was detained and was later transferred to the Human Rights Section of Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja.

Nkechinyere defending the act said it was her elder sister who brought the girl from the village and left her in her care before traveling home for Christmas. According to her, she had no choice but to lock the child in a room anytime she is going to work.

She has been charged to court.
